A figurative piece usually represents a person. In Fran’s work the body and head are taken away from the individual as through light and shadow many tones, colours, textures and shapes are created. These have inspired the work seen through her ceramic sculptures and paintings.
Fran started off with watercolour studies of the human form and has translated these into ceramics, which comprise individual features and head like forms.
Glazes and oxides are used in the style of water-colour which on the three dimensional work creates fluidity and freedom in colours that merge and move across the surface naturally.
